I like Christmas tree hunting. Our family has been going on a Christmas tree hunt for 30 years. I have been going since I was born. I'm not much of a fan of Santa but I like Christmas.
Don always brings hot dogs. He cooks them in an iron basket over a campfire. Grandma Merny and Patty bring cookies. Except this year Merny didn't get to come but we ate some of her cookies anyway. Patty brought ones with little Christmas tree sprinkles and green frosting. She made them herself. They look almost store bought. Tasty!
It was fun. Don got his truck stuck in the snow. He couldn't go forwards but he could go backwards and turn around. So we had to stay on the side of the road. Don and Patty brought a new puppy. Her name was Eula. She was BIG for a puppy. She was brown and had black stripes from her eyes to her ears. She was cute and nice. She ate cheese off the ground.
We went into the woods and got three Christmas trees. It was hard. The snow was really deep. I almost went all the way through it. Literally, when Clay and I split off from the rest of the group, I walked onto a mound of snow and I fell through and it was neck-deep. It was hard to get out of there. Clay had to help me. I was wet all over. What was weird is that I was wet on the inside of my clothes not the outside. COLD! I couldn't move my toes. I almost froze to death.
The Christmas tree hunt was AWESOME!

I had fun on it, too. My favorite part was when we tromped through the woods together.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds SUPER fun!
ReplyDeleteFun, cold and..... wet!!!!!q
ReplyDeleteWe went Christmas tree hunting too. But I didn't fall in a pile of snow.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your story about the Christmas tree hung, especially since Pop and I were not able to go. Thank you for telling the story - it almost made up for not being able to go with you.
